What is this list about?
Historically we’ve been using a list of everyone’s e-mail addresses to get information out. Some of the problems that have occurred over time as the duty of sending out the e-mails has been passed along are:

• some addresses get lost or mistyped
• some are cancelled by their owners resulting in a wave of bounced-back error messages after each mailing
• some people who change their address keep getting mailings at the old one
• some people who request to be added to the list never get added
• some people who request to be removed keep getting mailings

Also many times everyone’s address is visible in each mailing which opens the way for the list to be abused and/or spammed.

This website was created, in part, to be a solution to this problem. However it is easy to forget to check the site for updates and people might miss important info. Now we are able to offer a way of reaching our members that is secure, standardized, and voluntary. This will ensure that those who wish to get notifications will, those who choose not to can unsubscribe themselves, and your e-mail address will not be vulnerable to abuse.

We will be transitioning the addresses we have now to the new list, so those of you that have been receiving mailings will get a confirmation e-mail with a special link to click on to verify your addition to the new list (ensuring that no one can be added without their consent).
