Keep your Lamp Burning

The Apostle Paul gives us some very strong advice, and what is so very important to remember is the fact that these are not his words but rather they are God’s words, spoken to us thru the Apostle Paul. Let’s look at them together.More...
Eph 5:1  “Let it then be your desire to be like God, as well-loved children”;
We are to reflect Christ in all of our behaviors, to do this we must have Him in us, we must invite Him into our lives.
Eph 5:2  “And be living in love, even as Christ had love for you, and gave himself up for us, an offering to God for a perfume of a sweet smell”.
All true love comes from God. Christ’s sacrifice was perfect because of His constant relationship with the Father, we are to do likewise. Always remember, Christ came also to show us how it is done, He is our example.
Eph 5:3  “But evil acts of the flesh and all unclean things, or desire for others’ property, let it not even be named among you, as is right for saints”;
We are Christ’s representatives here on earth to reflect Christ we must choose Christ. When we do evil we choose Satan. You are what you behold. You can’t have both, when you choose both you choose Satan. Remember he is the author of lies and he mixes truth with error.
Eph 5:4  “And let there be no low behaviour, or foolish talk, or words said in sport, which are not right, but in place of them the giving of praise”.
We are not to envy the world nor are we to resemble the world. Don’t be ashamed of Christ. Rather lift Him up!
Eph 5:5  “Being certain of this, that no man who gives way to the passions of the flesh, no unclean person, or one who has desire for the property of others, or who gives worship to images, has any heritage in the kingdom of Christ and God”.
If we are truly filled with Christ our character will reflect Christ in every detail. Remember Christ never sinned. He was able to accomplish this because of His complete and constant connection with the Father. We are to do likewise with Christ. Only then will this be possible, for it is Christ’s righteousness that is victorious and brings Salvation.
Eph 5:6  “Do not be turned from the right way by foolish words; for because of these things the punishment of God comes on those who do not put themselves under him.”
When we try to do it alone we are using our righteousness.  And our righteousness is like filthy rags unto the Lord.
Eph 5:7  “Have no part with such men”;
Stay away from joining others in their sins.
Eph 5:8  “For you at one time were dark, but now are light in the Lord: let your behaviour be that of children of light”
We are to be part of the great big light in the world drawing all men to God. Christ is the Light we are the lamp.
Blessings
Tony
